If I'm not mistaken, Gaudet normally spends most of his time recruiting, not
coaching basketball games.  That may account for Duke's weak recruiting class
for next year.

It goes in cycles, too...We had a strong class in '90, with Grant, Marty Clark,
Tony Lang, and, cough cough, Kenny Blakeney.  We followed that with one OK
class, one atrocious class, then one of the better classes with Langdon, Price,
and Wojo...

        Hindsight is 50/50.  At the time, the class that included Greg Newton,
        Joey Beard, and Carmen Wallace looked pretty damn good.  It was one
        of the nation's top recruiting classes that year.

I've heard. :-)

Seriously, reports from student newspapers are notoriously bogus.  If you
believed the UCLA paper, for example, Dave Immel(*) would be in the NBA
today.
