I installed Google Browser Sync on Thursday on WinXP Pro at work and it seemed to install and setup fine. Then I went home and installed it on WinXP Home and when I synced it pulled down the info from work and collated the bookmarks, etc. Very nice. Both installations are on Firefox 1.5.0.4.
But then when I returned to work Friday and started Firefox I received the error: "Error '-1 Unexpected error' occurred while syncing, please try again later." I'd left Firefox running at home, and looking in the FAQ I saw that it doesn't support multiple open browsers, so I chalked it up to that. So I made sure to shut down Firefox at home before coming to work today.
But today I'm still getting "Error '-1 Unexpected error' occurred while syncing, please try again later." I tried removing the extension and then redownloading and installing it, but I'm still getting the error.

yes, i have disabled all the extensions and still i have got the same "Error '51 Unexpected error' occurred while syncing, please try again later." . i don't think it have any thingy i with the extensions installed ... but who knows...
I went into 'Settings' and 'Sync Settings' and unchecked *all* 'Store' boxes. Then 'OK'. It connected to the server without error. Then I rechecked them all and hit 'OK' and it resynced agan, successfully. Then I closed FF and reopened it, and didn't get the error. AND it remembered the tabs I'd had open. I just did a 'Full Refresh' and that ran without error too.

it didn't work :\ but i have anouther Possible 'FIX'! so i will call it Possible 'FIX II'! just press the STOP SYNCING butten and then run the wizard all over again. if it don't work then try to unchecked *all* Store boxes. just as MegeZone have suggest and then press okey and then press the STOP SYNCING butten and then run the wizard all over again.
Hmm, you know, I forgot that - I cleared the boxes, synced, then just Stop Syncing - but decided NOT to run the wizard, so I hit Cancel, then I went and rechecked the boxes and sycned. I thought I'd try that before trying to re-run the wizard. But maybe just clicking on 'Stop Syncing' does something. However, I had tried that earlier - clicking on 'Stop Sycning' and re-running the wizard, and it didn't help. They may be some magic combination of events required. If I experience the error again I'll try a different combination to see if I can narrow it down.

That is more or less what I did. I eventually got Google Sync to work again by:
1) Deleting all personal information from Firefox 2) Unchecking all of the sync checkboxes. 3) Syncing. 4) Checking "Stop Syncing". 5) Re-running the wizard. 6) Cancelling the wizard. 7) Running the wizard again.
After about an hour of fiddling with it, I eventually got it to work. That was yesterday.
Here is what I did today, and this seemed to fix it. I un-checked Store for everything but Bookmarks. Now it works. I do not know why. We'll see if it still works tomorrow.
Nope. Error again. So far, I have installed this extension on four different computers on three different networks. Three of the four synced successfully at least once. All of them eventually got this "unexpected error". I was able to get one of them to sync again after the error, but that did not last long before it got the error again.
I would have to say that this extension is not ready for release. Not by a long shot.

Well, keep in mind that this isn't really a release - like many things from Google this is a beta, and right now only availale through Google Labs.

It comes and goes on machines. Originally I only had it at work, but later it popped up at home, and it isn't constant. Once I clear it it can work for a while, then I get an error after several restarts. I reported it to Google and they asked for some of my logs already. I also pointed them at this thread.
It is beta software after all.
